Boruto Chapter 38 – He’s Bad News
Boruto Manga Chapter 38 Summary
This chapter of the Boruto manga finally showed Jigen’s immense strength during his fight with Naruto and Sasuke. Considering who Jigen is supposed to be, giving Naruto and Sasuke a hard time with him in ‘He’s Bad News’ makes sense.
I know a lot of fans were waiting for Naruto and Sasuke to go all out during the battle (I’m one of those fans), so it was fun to see the two unleash their power in ‘He’s Bad News’ to try and take them down. Jigen. However, the current villain is too powerful. Not only that, but he is also quite strategic. He was able to face everything Naruto and Sasuke threw at him.
The good news is that Jigen’s body has a limit. Even though he was able to defeat our powerful heroes, I was glad that fighting them was not easy for Jigen.
While some fans may disagree, I think Jigen’s extraordinary power makes sense. If we go back to the Naruto manga, Sasuke and Naruto were unable to defeat Kaguya. They were able to seal her away – and that too with the help of Sakura, Kakashi and Obito.
Since Jigen’s body is a vessel for Isshiki Ōtsutsuki (who is presumably Kaguya’s partner), it made sense (at least to me) that Naruto and Sasuke couldn’t win such a battle alone. Things might have turned out differently if Sakura, Kakashi, Shikamaru or the rest of the Kage were present to offer some help.
If Jigen sealed Naruto, that also makes sense. The Naruto series has always been about sealing off powerful opponents, especially if killing or redeeming them is not an option. Jigen was aware of Naruto’s power and trapping the Seventh Hokage in a container made strategic sense.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of the heroes try to come up with a plan to save Naruto and defeat Jigen.
Sasuke will be an emotional mess because he had to leave Naruto to fight another day. I loved how he was able to teleport next to Sakura. I’m not sure, but I think he was able to pinpoint her location because of the wedding ring he gave her during the events of the Sasuke Retsuden novel.
Speaking of Sakura, why the hell wasn’t she already in Naruto’s house? We know she was with Ino when Jigen attacked. When Naruto was teleported away, Sakura was supposed to rush to his house as soon as possible. And why weren’t the city police already at the residence? Did Ino tell everyone not to worry even though her telepathic contact with the Hokage broke?
It didn’t make sense to me to see everyone cold when Naruto was teleported out of the village by a mysterious enemy.
At least Salad decided to go to Naruto’s house. We saw Kawaki’s prosthetic arm (powered by Naruto’s chakra) fall to the ground.
