Boruto Manga Chapter 27 Summary

Hinata and Himawari throw away Himawari’s broken vase and Hinata tells her that the important thing is the feelings that went into making it. Boruto wakes up from his sleep and goes to the bathroom, he needs to use the toilet. He sees Kawaki going to the bathroom as well. They argue over who gets to go to the bathroom first and the argument is about to break into a fight before Naruto, already in the bathroom, tells them to go behind the house. Outside the house, Boruto asks Kawaki why he stood right next to him, and Kawaki responds with an insult. They then charge into the fray and activate their Karma. Kawaki says that defeating Boruto is the only way to make him understand what he’s saying, and Boruto feels the same way about Kawaki. They are then stopped by Naruto’s shadow clone and he complains about the bathroom. Later, during a family meal, Naruto tells Boruto that he puts too much salt in his food, and Boruto replies that it’s kind of uncomfortable for Naruto to be home all day. Himawari teases Boruto and says that he is happy about it, which Boruto denies. As Boruto prepares to leave and checks that he has everything he needs, Kawaki approaches him. Boruto says they should continue the match another time before Kawaki asks where Boruto got his karma. Boruto explains that he got it from Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, Kawaki eventually realizes that Jigen was not involved. Boruto asks Kawaki how he got his karma and Kawaki remembers the time he was in a test tube in Kara’s lab. He is surrounded by other children also in these tubes and sees Amado and Jigen hearing them talk about how the children around them failed and died. Amado asks Jigen how long he intends to continue and Jigen responds by asking why they should stop. He tells Amado that they have neither the time nor the means and that they only need one ship. Kawaki witnesses the remaining children’s karma spread through their bodies before dying. Jigen then tells Kawaki that he won’t let him down. Kawaki tells Boruto that he remembers the pain coursing through his body and even thought he had resigned himself to death, he survived and karma burned into him. Naruto listens to Kawaki’s story from the hallway. Boruto insults Jigen for doing such things to children and applauds Kawaki for surviving. Kawaki then tells Boruto that he would rather die than continue suffering in Kara. Kawaki and Boruto’s karmas activate and Kawaki asks Boruto if he wants to get rid of the karma, saying that he can’t rest as long as he has the karma. Boruto wonders if it’s even possible to get rid of it, and Kawaki says that his goal is to investigate, which is why he ran away. Kawaki then asks Boruto to work with him to destroy Karma. Boruto says that it doesn’t excuse him for destroying Himawari’s flower vase and tells him to make it up to her somehow. Kawaki repeats that it was a mistake and says he’ll get a new one. Boruto says that won’t satisfy him and storms out. As Kawaki stares at the broken pieces of the vase, Naruto walks up to him and tells him not to worry about it and that Himawari doesn’t matter anymore. Kawaki says he’ll go find a new one for Boruto to work with. Naruto realizes that Kawaki has no money and tells him not to steal the vase. Kawaki asks him what he should do instead and Naruto tells him to follow him.

After Boruto and company read the kidnapping report, she disappeared. Kagura tells them Tsurushi Hachiya, a genin from his class who doesn’t like the current state of Kirigakure, is most likely responsible. Kagura wants to inform Chōjūrō, but Boruto doesn’t want the field trip to be canceled, so he and the others convince Kagura to handle the situation himself with their help. The two groups meet and a fight ensues. Tsurushi sets up a barrier to ensure that no one outside notices the fight and interferes. Boruto and his friends make short work of Tsurushi’s group. Tsurushi dares Kagura to draw his blade, revealing that he killed while at the Academy, revealing him as the grandson of the Fourth Mizukage. Tsuruchi trips Kaguru with a wire, luring Boruto away, who himself is picked up by the neck by another of Tsurushi’s friends. He frees himself with a failed attempt at Mitsuki’s Wind Release technique. Kagura deals with Tsurushi despite using a wooden sword against his metal one. Iwabee finishes off Tsurushi and the mist barrier disappears. Hachiya’s group retreats and Boruto frees Denki. Back at the hotel, Kagura confirms that he is Yagura’s grandson, and that he has been struggling with sword control ever since he killed classmates while at the Academy. Elsewhere, Shino, Anko, and Mei discuss the contract between the lands of fire, water, waves, and sea. When Mei drinks too much, she uses chakra control to lower her alcohol level. Mei returns to the point and explains that Kirigakure wants the Land of Water to sign the contract. However, Earth itself is against it, counting on the instability of accumulating influence and fearing that the continued expansion of neighboring nations will threaten them. If there is a conflict, Tierra del Fuego will have to get involved. At the hotel, Boruto invites Kagura to play cards with them. Kagura cuts in and realizes that they invited him to get rid of the previous talk about him and his grandfather, which he is grateful for. Kagura tells them about his struggle with himself, about killing his friends at the Academy and feeling guilty for Yagura’s sins. The others try to talk him out of it. Partially successful, Kagura lights up as she wins the match. Saradacomes tells Boruto that he has to make a call. Boruto gives Kagura the card game they played as a gift. The next day, Kagura asks Chōjūrō to perform a test to obtain the Hiramekarei. Tsurushi reports the encounter to Shizumo, who despite claiming to be fine, seemingly kills the former.
