 Summary

Ao is injured in Boruto’s attack, but is still conscious. He notices that the scientific ninja tool on his arm has been broken so he can no longer absorb the jutsu. Konohamaru then pushes Boruto out of the way before Ao’s mirror drones shoot him unconscious. Ao says that he didn’t want to use these drones unless he had to, and Boruto notes that these tactics are uncharacteristic of a ninja. Ao replies that he gave up being a ninja and instead became a new kind of human being, and then attacks Boruto with drones. Boruto leaves Konohamaru with Sarada and Mitsuki and absorbs the attack with his ninja science tool. Boruto then attacks Ao with the Shadow Clones, but then Ao grabs Boruto with a scientific ninja tool on his arm, noting that the Shadow Clones couldn’t copy complex machines like scientific ninja tools. Ao then points the chakra blade at Boruto’s neck, much like he did with the screwdriver when they first met in Thunder Train. Sarada tries to stop Ao, but Mitsuki holds her back to protect her from the drone attacks. Ao says he’ll get to them once he finishes Boruto. Boruto tells Ao that he’s already lost and can’t win against him, then reveals that Boruto Ao’s arrest was a Shadow Clone that put on an absorption arm. Boruto then emerges from the ground holding a chakra blade and tells Ao that the ninja must read what’s underneath. Boruto then cuts off Ao’s prosthetic arm and leg with a chakra blade, followed by a rasengan and Ao goes flying. Ao, unable to stand up, then concedes defeat. Boruto points a screwdriver at Ao’s neck, while Ao remarks that he could easily kill him with a screwdriver. Boruto drops the screwdriver and Ao comments that he is just as soft as his father and that sooner or later it would be fatal for him. Konohamaru then regains consciousness. Boruto comments on how Ao was an amazing shinobi, but he couldn’t forgive him for killing Mugin. He then tells Ao that his power should be used in the right way, and then orders Konohamaru to have Ao extradited to Konoha. Konohamaru is impressed with Team 7 and Katasuke looks forward to their future. Ao then sees Kashin Koji and shouts his name. Koji summons a giant toad and causes the structure he was standing on to collapse on Boruto. Ao uses the Water Release jutsu to push Boruto away from the collapsing rubble before Koji’s toad crushes him to death. Koji asks Ao what motivated him to save Boruto’s life, wondering if it was because he wanted to die as a shinobi. He then introduces himself to Boruto.

Unable to sense Sakura Uchiha or their enemies, Naruto concludes that they are either too far away or hidden inside the barrier. Sakura offers Shin to treat his injured child, but Shin reveals that they are all clones grown from his teeth and nerve tissue, revealing himself to be a former follower of Orochimaru. Shin wields his weapons and cuts open the wounded clone, killing him. Naruto considers the possibility of Shin getting involved with Orochimaru, remembering his conversation with Kakashi Hatake. Sasuke agrees, noting that Shin’s arm embedded in the Sharingan is the work of Orochimaru. However, Naruto is skeptical that Shin took Sakura Orochimaru because he is under the surveillance of the Konoha shinobi. Sasuke still thinks they should meet with Orochimaru to learn more about Shin.

Sarada Uchiha is disheartened by Sasuke’s lack of interest in Sakura, and he tells her that if she intends to be a shinobi, she shouldn’t let personal feelings affect her missions. Chōchō Akimichi tries to lighten their spirits by offering them chips. Naruto suggests they take the kids with them since Shin also went to see Sarada and whispers to her that she could meet the people from the picture with Orochimaru.

Shin tells Sakura about his approach to life, death and evolution and condemns peace as something that prevents shinobi from growing stronger and developing new ninjutsu. Shin credits the Akatsuki for creating the conflict that makes the shinobi stronger. Shin finishes transplanting organs from his deceased clone to himself.

Naruto greets Yamato in front of Orochimaru’s hideout. Sasuke leads them inside, where they run into Yugo and Suigetsu, whom Sarada recognizes from a photo. Orochimaru joins them. Sasuke questions his relationship with Shin. Orochimaru takes them to another room and talks about Shin’s background as a former test subject and his goals.

Sarada pulls Suigetsu aside and asks him about the woman in the photo. She has him do a DNA test using the umbilical cord from Karina’s belongings. A test is a match. Naruto overhears them and scolds Suigetsu for messing things up. He tries to calm Sarada down, but she snaps when he mentions saving Sakura and condemns any ties to her. He notices her Sharingan and hands her a mirror so she can see it herself. Sarada claims that he doesn’t understand her situation, causing him to remember his own bonds. Naruto asks her if she has feelings for Sakura and she realizes that she wants to save her. They join the others outside. Orochimaru offers the possibility that Sakura is dead, but Sasuke tells him that his wife is not weak.

Shin tells Sakura that Sasuke does not deserve to bear the name Uchiha and intends to kill him and take his Sharingan. Sasuke takes Naruto, Sarada, and Chōchō on his Susanoo, having learned of Shin’s location from Orochimaru.
