Boruto Chapter 22 – Fierce Battle Conclusion!
Summary
Unable to sense Sakura Uchiha or their enemies, Naruto concludes that they are either too far away or hidden inside the barrier. Sakura offers Shin to treat his injured child, but Shin reveals that they are all clones grown from his teeth and nerve tissue, revealing himself to be a former follower of Orochimaru. Shin wields his weapons and cuts open the wounded clone, killing him. Naruto considers the possibility of Shin getting involved with Orochimaru, remembering his conversation with Kakashi Hatake. Sasuke agrees, noting that Shin’s arm embedded in the Sharingan is the work of Orochimaru. However, Naruto is skeptical that Shin took Sakura Orochimaru because he is under the surveillance of the Konoha shinobi. Sasuke still thinks they should meet with Orochimaru to learn more about Shin.
Sarada Uchiha is disheartened by Sasuke’s lack of interest in Sakura, and he tells her that if she intends to be a shinobi, she shouldn’t let personal feelings affect her missions. Chōchō Akimichi tries to lighten their spirits by offering them chips. Naruto suggests they take the kids with them since Shin also went to see Sarada and whispers to her that she could meet the people from the picture with Orochimaru.
Shin tells Sakura about his approach to life, death and evolution and condemns peace as something that prevents shinobi from growing stronger and developing new ninjutsu. Shin credits the Akatsuki for creating the conflict that makes the shinobi stronger. Shin finishes transplanting organs from his deceased clone to himself.
Naruto greets Yamato in front of Orochimaru’s hideout. Sasuke leads them inside, where they run into Yugo and Suigetsu, whom Sarada recognizes from a photo. Orochimaru joins them. Sasuke questions his relationship with Shin. Orochimaru takes them to another room and talks about Shin’s background as a former test subject and his goals.
Sarada pulls Suigetsu aside and asks him about the woman in the photo. She has him do a DNA test using the umbilical cord from Karina’s belongings. A test is a match. Naruto overhears them and scolds Suigetsu for messing things up. He tries to calm Sarada down, but she snaps when he mentions saving Sakura and condemns any ties to her. He notices her Sharingan and hands her a mirror so she can see it herself. Sarada claims that he doesn’t understand her situation, causing him to remember his own bonds. Naruto asks her if she has feelings for Sakura and she realizes that she wants to save her. They join the others outside. Orochimaru offers the possibility that Sakura is dead, but Sasuke tells him that his wife is not weak.
Shin tells Sakura that Sasuke does not deserve to bear the name Uchiha and intends to kill him and take his Sharingan. Sasuke takes Naruto, Sarada, and Chōchō on his Susanoo, having learned of Shin’s location from Orochimaru.
